Leveling

The Leveling module rewards members for chatting and talking in voice. As they earn XP they level up, unlock role or currency rewards, and climb your server’s public leaderboard.

Setup

  1. Enable the module from the Leveling page in the dashboard.
  2. Choose how much XP members earn per message and per minute in voice.
  3. Optionally customize the rank card, rewards, and level-up message.

XP configuration

  • XP per message — base XP awarded for a qualifying message.
  • XP per minute in voice — XP granted for each active minute in a voice channel (set to 0 to disable voice XP). Deafened and self-muted members do not earn voice XP, and the AFK channel is ignored.
  • Message cooldown — the minimum time between two XP-earning messages, preventing spam.
  • Clear XP on leave — remove a member’s XP when they leave the server.

Message multipliers

Award extra XP for higher-effort messages:
  • Long message bonus — additional XP for messages longer than a configurable character threshold.
  • Attachment multiplier — multiply XP for messages that include an attachment or image.
  • Featured member bonus — extra XP for members who recently voted for the bot.

Thresholds

Choose how much XP each level requires:
  • Default configuration — a balanced built-in curve.
  • Custom — seed the curve with the XP required for levels 2 and 3; the dashboard shows a live table of the resulting requirements.

Rewards

Grant a reward when a member reaches a level:
  • Role — automatically assign a role.
  • Currency — deposit economy coins.
Enable Remove previous roles to swap a member’s old level role for the new one as they progress.

Rank card

Design a fully custom rank card image with the drag-and-drop editor: choose a template, set a solid/gradient/uploaded background, and toggle or restyle each element (avatar, username, level, rank, XP bar, waves). Enable Send the rank card as an attachment to include it in the level-up message. Members can view their own card any time with /rank.

Exceptions & multipliers

  • Channel / role multipliers — let specific channels or roles earn more XP.
  • Exceptions — block XP in certain channels or roles, or switch a list to allow mode so XP is only earned there.

Leaderboard

Every server gets a public, live-updating leaderboard at murffy.xyz/leaderboard/<server-id>, and members can check the top ranks in Discord with /leaderboard.
